In 2013 CTND Design organized a multidisciplinary group to create a new global design for the Museums of Tenerife, including sound design. The proposal was based on a concept of frequency, both in the color scheme and sounds that were to represent each museum, from low volcanic vibrations to extremely high harmonics produced by a sonification of solar oscillations. The following material is part of the archive of photographs, color samples and sound recordings that we collected during our research on the island. Sound, Barbara Held, all photos, Yapci Ramos.
El Bucio, antiguo sistema de comunicación en la isla. The conch shell, ancient communications technology, used to trace the topography of the Island, Las Cañadas (zona 7 Islas) Parque Nacional del Teide.
Grabación del sonido de la piedra del molino de gofio antiguo del MNH
Recording of stone gofio mill, museum collection
Tambor de piel norteafricano. North African frame drum.
El Volcán. Combinación de frecuencias subgraves de varios elementos cotidianos (motor de riego, aspirina efervescente…)
The Volcano. A combination of low frequencies from everyday elements such as the motor of an irrigation system, an effervescent asprin…)
Sonido sintetizado digitalmente de códigos numéricos proporcionados por el Instituto Astrofísico de Canarias sobre el espectro de potencias de las oscilaciones del Sol. Sonificación en frequencias de la serie armónica.
Sonification of numeric data of solar oscillations provided by the Instituto Astrofisico de Canarias, translated into the frequencies of the harmonic series.
